In October 2005, Wilmington Youth Lacrosse Association (WYLA) Inc. and Wilmington School Committee agreed to develop boys and girls High School Lacrosse programs. In order to get the high School program “off the ground”, providing another great high school sport opportunity for the kids of Wilmington, WYLA agreed to fund 100% of the costs of the Boys and Girls Varsity Lacrosse programs for the first 2 years (2006 & 2007) of inception and subsequently, agreed to fund the costs of the Boys and Girls Jr. Varsity Lacrosse programs for the first 2 years (2008 & 2009) of these JV programs inception. We are happy to say, with your help, we have met our Varsity program commitment and the Varsity program is now fully funded by the School Departments, providing another great sport opportunity for the children of Wilmington.
Specific to the Jr. Varsity girls and boys programs WYLA has only this one last year of 100% funding commitment until it too falls under the School budget. In order to help fund the lacrosse programs and eliminate a participation fee, WYLA developed a calendar fund raising program to support the development of lacrosse at Wilmington High School.
Anyone interested in being a member of the WYLA High School Development Committee, please contact Mike Fay or Mike Leighton.
This completes WYLA’s obligation to fund and support the development of Wilmington HS Boys & Girls Lacrosse program. Thank you for your support!
