| Just a short time ago, Wilmington Youth Lacrosse lost a great friend in Scotty McDougall. Since our inception in 2005, Scotty was a key factor and dedicated much of his free time to the growth of Wilmington Youth Lacrosse as we know it today. During his time with us, his ability to connect with the children, teach, and promote the love of the game was evident. His tenacity in teaching sportsmanship above all never went unnoticed by those who were around him, or privileged to play for him. He instilled this value in all his players and the importance of knowing "right from wrong" were always placed far above "wins or losses". With this in mind, it is our pleasure to announce the Paul “Scotty“ McDougall Memorial Scholarship for for school year 2011 - 2012. |
One boys and one girls $1000 scholarship each will be awarded to a graduating High School senior who has played at least one year in WYLA. **WYLA has removed the requirement of the girls applicants that they have had to participate in the youth program to be eligible** Awards will be based on Merit, Academic Performance, school and/or community service. Please see WYLA Website for all the details and eligibility criteria. Application submission are due no later than May 31, 2011. The 2 scholarship winners will be announced at the WYLA End of Year Cookout mid June. |
